ORBRO Inc. announced that it has completed the delivery of 2,000 firefighter location tracking devices to Daejeon Fire Headquarters. The purpose of this delivery is to build a field response structure that can locate firefighters who have entered a fire scene more quickly and accurately.

The devices delivered are designed to collect the location of crews deployed to a fire scene automatically and, on that basis, to support on-site command and safety management. At disaster scenes where indoor and outdoor environments run together and where power is cut off or visibility is hard to secure, quickly identifying a crew member's current position is regarded as a key factor for protecting lives and improving rescue efficiency.

In the fire service field, there is growing demand for infrastructure-less location estimation technology that can continuously estimate position both indoors and outdoors while reducing dependence on separate fixed infrastructure. Related technology development is likewise moving toward fusing information from various sensors such as GNSS, inertial sensors and barometers to identify firefighter positions reliably even at fire scenes and to link that data with control systems.

With this delivery, ORBRO plans to go beyond simply supplying devices and to keep expanding the scope of fire safety technology that can contribute to visibility of crew positions at firefighting scenes and to more advanced command structures. Going forward, the company intends to broaden the use of location tracking systems beyond fire suppression to a wide range of fire service activities including rescue, search and disaster response, and to develop them into a more sophisticated field control structure.
