
ORBRO completes a location-tracking-based safety management system at Busan New Port
Implementing real-time hazard warnings for workers and a collision prevention structure, accelerating the digital transformation of port safety management

ORBRO Inc. announced that it has successfully completed the deployment of a location-tracking-based safety management system at the site of Busan New Port Company. The deployment was pursued to strengthen worker safety in a port working environment where containers and heavy equipment move constantly, and to speed up on-site response to hazardous situations.
Busan New Port is regarded as a site where collision prevention and real-time safety management matter, because large cargo handling equipment and workers share the same space and the container stacking structure creates many areas where visibility is hard to secure. In the port industry more broadly, adoption of precise location-based safety control structures that identify the positions of workers and moving equipment in real time and issue automatic warnings before a hazardous situation occurs has been expanding.
Through this project, ORBRO connected BLE/UWB devices attached to worker helmets with ORBRO OS and implemented an automatic warning system for cargo handling workers. Based on worker positions and equipment movement paths, the system judges proximity hazards automatically and, when a worker approaches a hazard radius, uses vibration, LED and voice warnings so that the worker can move away on their own.
An interlock structure that stops the crane immediately when a hazard alarm occurs, a manager call function, and integrated control and automated operation logs were also applied. ORBRO visualizes the entire site in 2D and 3D and records alert, response and equipment stop history automatically so it can be used for training, reporting, accident analysis and audit response.
The effects of the deployment were also confirmed. According to the accompanying performance materials, container collision accidents have remained at zero since the system was introduced, hazard proximity alerts are delivered through real-time vibration and voice, and warning response time has been shortened to an average of within 1 to 2 seconds. Manual safety records based on logbooks have also shifted to an automatic log collection structure, and proximity hazard analysis is now judged automatically from location data.
This deployment shows that ORBRO's location data can go beyond simple tracking and connect to a preemptive safety management structure at a port site. ORBRO plans to keep expanding the scope of location-based safety solutions across ports, logistics and industrial sites in general, and to advance them into a more sophisticated operational control structure.
